Electron Image started life in 1985 as a sole proprietorship, acting as a licensing source for products developed by Electron founder,
Gen Kiyooka. Prior to 1985, Kiyooka was actively developing software products for the Commodore 64 computer. This early software consisted of C64 versions of graphics programs popular on other personal computers, including a "Paint program" (like MacPaint etc) driven by the C64 joystick instead of the mouse. The software of this era was written with compiled Basic (PETSPEED) and 6510 assembly language for interrupt handlers etc.
